Celebrating "Vellottam" ..going back to the sea..
After the numbing shock of the tsunami that struck on 26th December,
the world spontaneously rushed to the rescue of the devastated and
the dispossessed. Maitri, a registered organisation of socially conscious
citizens in Pune, who believe in mobilising people's support for people's
issues, responded too. They worked with tsunami-affected villages
along the coastline of Tamil Nadu, repairing boats and engines, providing
fishing nets and medical care. And now, the fishermen are returning
to the sea
giving everybody a reason to celebrate.
Join the celebrations on April 14 at S.M. Joshi Foundation Auditorium,
Off Shastri Road, Near Ganjve Chowk, (Near Niwara Old age home),
Pune - 411 004 at 6:00 p.m. sharp. Audio-visual presentations, interviews
with relief volunteers and a photo exhibition have been arranged.

A Century of Trust
The Tata Group is holding an exhibition at the TMTC premises on
Mangaldas Road showcasing the 100 years of their presence in India.
2004 marked the death centenary of the Founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji
Tata, and the birth centenaries of JRD Tata and Naval Tata. The
Group has commemorated the period 1904 to 2004 as the Century of
Trust. The exhibition highlights the contribution of these three
leaders and showcases the industrial development, the entrepreneurial
spirit and role towards nation building in the last century. The
exhibition narrates the story of the Tata Group in the context of
the key events in Indian history over the past century.
The exhibition has various sections, which chronologically present
the last 100 years starting with a replica of 'Nausari House', the
place where Jamsetji N. Tata was born in 1839. There are sections
on the their first textile venture - Empress Mills, Taj Hotels,
Tata Power, Tata Steel, Dorab Trust, Tata Chemicals, Tata Salt,
Tata Tea, TELCO, Titan and many other interesting topics like the
birth of the 5-Year Plan. Apart from the displays each section also
has an Audio-Visual monitor, Touch Screen presentations and helpful
guides who narrate the history of each section.
